“Chalk Lane Hotel is a one-off survivor from Epsom's elegant past. You are yards away from Lord Rosebery's country house and stables, and, if you have the energy, can walk through miles of countryside. Chalk Lane itself brings you to Epsom Downs, home of The Derby (and more racing stables) with a choice of walks in several directions. The breakfast was good, but I didn't experience dinner in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is well-signposted - necessary in this part of 'Old Epsom'. There are historic pubs and elegant houses nearby.”
