“This is modest accommodation - albeit very clean, warm and comfortable. The hotel is within a monastery, so it would be inappropriate to expect anything else. However, the location is stunning and the rustic Catalan dinners in the restaurant are generous and quite delicious. The buffet breakfasts are equally generous and tasty. Ask for one of the front rooms and you will be treated to stunning views - especially at sunrise. Staying here you have access to the monastery and surrounding mountain walks after the day trippers have gone. We stayed 2 nights and wished there had been more”
“The location is best, request a view room, the restaurant both dinner and breakfast is wonderful.”
“What could be better than right next to the Monastary. Dinner great and reasonable price. Loved watching sunrise from our window. And at monastary with no crowds at night.”
“Great location and view of the mountain. Very good restaurant. Very comfortable”
“next to the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, nothing is better than that. clean room, good dinner and breakfast for the price I paid. enjoy when all the tourist gone. staffs were helpful and cheerful !!”
“What a beautiful, historical place to experience! Perfecto!!”
“From the get-go, a guest has to appreciate just where you are. This is the only hotel on the side of a mountain with limited access. The hotel is part of a former monastery, so the rooms are very small (mine big enough for a double bed with limited floor space, small 3 pc bathroom and a wall closet) and austere. Dinner (hotel's restaurant is only option) and breakfast were fine. Parking is restricted, located away from hotel but you can gain temp access to drop/pick up luggage. Montserrat is a confined space with throngs of tourists during the day, but it is magical in the quiet evening and early morning. It is a very unique place to stay for 24 hours.”
“The best part of staying at this hotel is that you can have quiet sacred morning. You get up early, see the sunrise, then you can take time to visit the Black Madonna (Virgin of Montserrat) and walk around the monastery. If you want to avoid crowded craziness and have relaxing time, you want to stay at this hotel. The hotel itself is old, but well kept and very clean. We had beautiful view of the montserrat from our room.”
“Ah where to start. Location, location, location. I am not a religious person, even though I was traveling with other people that are, but there is something mystical about waking up to the bells of the monastery at 7 am, opening the curtains, and seeing the clouds traveling right below the mountains, covering the valleys. The rooms are quite simple and basic, but that view is just amazing! The breakfast provided is very complete, it has everything and although we didn't try the lunch and dinner on the restaurant, it sounded delicious, as they change the menu everyday and put what they have on the elevator. That was my biggest regret haha. Finally, the staff was very helpful and kind. It is not a cheap place for sure, but it is well worth it.”
“The accommodations were as we thought they would be - spartan and clean. Made us feel part of the entire area. The courtyard was wonderful with the views all the way to the Mediterranean, the pillars towering over us, the bells ringing! The restaurant was very good and the ambiance much fancier than the rest of the area. Beware the road up the mountain is scary, but oh! so worth it! I will never forget this adventure!”
