“Excellent location, being not far off the road to Andorra and within 15 or 20 minutes of the Cathar castles of Montsegur and Puyvert (beautiful drive). Remarkably well equipped rooms for what is essentially a modest country hotel - kettle, coffee maker, fridge, iron, hairdryer, TV etc. Large very comfortable bed and spotless bathroom. Good breakfast at a fair price. No restaurant but only a few minutes to Lavelanet where we enjoyed a good dinner at Le Théâtre. ”

“Hotel Le Castrum is in a perfect location to see Cathar castles and medieval villages. It is about 30 minutes away from Foix, Mirepoix, and Puivert, all of which are worth seeing It is 15 minutes from the unmissable Montsegur castle and picturesque village of Montsegur and 20 minutes from Roquefixade, another beautiful village with a stunning hilltop castle. The hotel is surrounded by grass, fields, and woods. The grounds and hotel are nicely designed. There are several choices of restaurants and boulangeries in the village of Lavelanet, 5 minutes away. The owners are friendly and helpful.”
