“I'm a frequent international traveller, staying at hotels every month. Le Catalan is my absolute favourite - it's not glitzy, grand or 'slick'. Rooms are very comfortable, fab facilities like the Hamam where I've had wonderful massages and pedicures. The restaurant is amazing. For a boutique hotel in a smallish coastal French village, the chef is extraordinary. My adult son was travelling with me and he was astonished by the creativity and quality of the food for our evening meal; to the point where he was talking Michelin stars. The owner of the hotel is professional and charming, makes guests feel like very welcome visitors in her home. She is an animal lover so her own dog and cat are always present and our dog who was also a guest at the hotel, was warmly welcome. This is truly a wonderful boutique hotel, even without the fantastic views.”
“The desk staff were really helpful and the hotel facilities great. The restaurant and meal quality was outstanding”
“All the bedrooms have a sea view and each has a balcony. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony and watch the scne below with a glass of wine. In house restaurant is very good.”
“Excellent staff throughout, very friendly, knowledgeable and professionnal. Food was a gastronomical delight, even on a half-board deal, breakfast was superb. And to finish the view from the room will stay with us for a long time... Merci à toute l'équipe du Catalan pour un superbe séjour! A la prochaine ...f”
“This is the only hotel we have booked via Booking.com where there was an issue with the booking, We booked a twin room and were allocated a double with no twin being available, I remonstrated and the issue was solved willingly enough by a second bed being placed in the room, this curtailed the available space but was OK, just. Both beds were comfortable and there seems to be ample parking. The hotel is comfortable with a great view from the room we had. The downside of the view is that it is a bit of a hoof into the town and is very uphill on the way back, either via about 150 steps or a much longer walk, no problem if you are young and/ or fit but most people seemed to pause on the steps more than once for breath. The food in the restaurant is good and it has the best cheese board I have seen in a very long time both with regard to the selection and condition of the cheeses.”
“Our stay was at the end of a ten day trans-Pyrenean trip where I had cycled and my wife had driven to provide support. I had booked Le Catalan half-board as a nice reward for both of us and it lived up to expectations. Our room was clean, comfortable and had a great view. Our half-board booking meant that we had a set menu evening meal. We weren't overly keen on the particular dishes but there was no problem in our switching to one of the fixed-price menus on the main carte and there was little additional cost. The meal was excellent as was the breakfast.”
“Room location and view and breakfast excellent. Some fantastic fish restaurants in the town.”
“The beds were comfy, the view amazing, plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meals. The staff were helpful and especially Marie was friendly. The free mini-bus called a navette went to and from town which was a bonus. It is in a quiet position high above the town of Banyuls, which has a sheltered beach and plenty of character.”
“The croissants were all gone when we arrived for breakfast at 9am! The hotel urgently requires an experienced owner/manager who would ensure that the place is clean and the staff adequately trained in all aspects of this service industry”
“bUT: THE HOTEL IS HIGH ABOVE THE VILLAGE; tO GO DOWN OR UP§§ ON FOOT IS NOT EASY THE LOCATION OF THE ROOM WAS TERRIBLE”
