“Although not in the centre of Essen, this location in an old suburb for the more wealthy citizens was very pleasant. Quite room in a very nice hotel. You don't have the impression to sleep in the Ruhr area at all. Parking was for free. Check the parking sign of the marketplace in front of the hotel. You can park for free most of the days, but on some days they have a small local market and you have to park somewhere else on time.”

“I stayed for a night at Mintrops and it was totally wonderful! The staff are welcoming and friendly; the check-in was smooth and quick. The surrounding area is a quiet residential cultural heritage, and a stroll around the hotel is recommended. This place is QUIET. There is really nothing much other than the beautiful houses; on Wednesday and Saturday mornings there is a market right in front of the hotel (Markttag), and opposite the hotel there is an EDEKA mini market, a bakery and a pharmacy around the corner, and that's it. This is the place for someone who wants to get away from the buzz light, yet remained merely 10min by train to the city center.”
