Actually composed of two cities (San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas) connected by a main thoroughfare with giant resorts lining one side, Los Cabos as a destination is more spread-out than you'd expect. It also has a few different sides to it. San Jose del Cabo is slightly more historic and village-y feeling, while Cabo town is home to the raging beach parties and bar scene of spring-break fantasy. The resorts and hotels on Hotel Row tend to be quite large and self-contained, as it's not easy to get from these properties to town unless you're driving (not recommended). The area outside of Los Cabos is much less developed (though probably won't remain so), from the surf community in Todos Santos to the funky fishing village of Los Barriles.
