“My wife and I first stayed at Albergo Verbano on the Borromean Isola dei Pescatori on Lago Maggiore for our 10th wedding anniversary in 1989. We particularly remembered the lovely dinners we had enjoyed out on the terrace, with the peace of no traffic noise and watching the lights of the boats moving around on the lake (we were there in September so it got dark during dinner). So when we agreed with some friends that we would meet up with them somewhere in the Italian lakes in June 2017 we persuaded them to join us at Albergo Verbano for a few days. It didn't seem to us to have changed at all since 1989. The service was as friendly and professional as before and the dinners out on the terrace just as magical and delicious as we had remembered. Much of the fish on the menu comes directly from the lake. The hotel is ideally located for Isola Bella and Isola Madre, both of which are well worth a visit. We definitely intend to return.”
