“The staff were really friendly and helpful. They were happy to take us into town once a day and especially Carlota was very enthusiastic and helpful. We had some problems e.g. getting locked out of the hotel when we arrived back late but the staff took it in their stride and were able to help us sort everything out. The room was lovely and it was a unique experience to stay in a traditional stone house. The food in the restaurant was really nice. I would recommend staying here as the staff make it a brilliant experience.”
“Quiet location with very friendly and helpful staff (who spoke english). The manager was very professional and went above and beyond for us!”
“The owner and his staff at Ckamur have worked hard to build a relaxing oasis that honors and respects the beautiful area that surrounds it. We loved coming back to our volcanic rock room to cool down after a day of adventures. Our room even had a private patio for daytime lounging as well as a raised terrace with views of the volcano that acted as the perfect spot for stargazing at night. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from town but with the free bikes on property, as well as the generous rides from the staff, we were easily able to get around. But mostly we will miss, Carlota! She was beyond warm, helpful and very funny. We looked forward to seeing her, chatting about the surrounding area and getting the best local tips. She and this hotel are a true home away from home.”
“Great location for seeing the stars. Rooms are beautiful but the service (which I believe to be more important) is terrible. Please see my comments below.”
“This lodge is one of the few in San Pedro that provides a genuine Atacameños experience where one has the feeling to be immersed in the subtle wonderful live that thrives in the Salar de Atacama.”
“Friendly and helpful staff, great view, quiet location and room was beautiful. It is a bit further out than other places to stay but we liked that as it was quiet and San Pedro is quite busy. Also we had beautiful views because of the location. We had a car so it was easy to drive to the center.”
“The room is great, made following traditional construction and style, it's large as is the bathroom. At night is quiet and the sky is so dark, perfect to see the stars. Mainly, staff are friendly and go the extra mile to help.”
“The accommodation is of high quality. The hut we stayed in was built with based on the traditional design and had all the amenities of a modern hotel. It was very cosy and tastefully decorated. The staff were amazing and very attentive and they made lunch boxes for us when we had long days exploring the desert. The location of the hotel is about 10min drive to the town but we liked the peace and quiet and the stars at night were incredible. The breakfast was excellent. Tip for Atacama is to rent your own car (preferably 4x4 - we used econorent which was excellent and cheaper than europcar) so that you have your own freedom to explore this amazing desert instead of being in a mini bus with other tourists.”
“- The staff is wonderful, Mrs. Elizabeth was extremely kind and helpful during my whole stay, she makes you feel like you're home. - The room is very charming and spacious and made to resemble the original homes of the area, it gets very warm in the evenings, so that may be a problem during the summer. No frigobar, which can be a negative but I prefer the silence, and they offer drink at reasonable prices (for a hotel). - The breakfast is simple but good, with a lot of fruits. - It is very far from the city, yes. A half an hour walk under the Atacama sun to reach Caracoles. They offer to take you to the city (up until 9pm I think) and have bikes available, but it is best to have your own transport or book taxis. I rented a bike and had no problem going to the city (although, be careful at night with the dogs). - And the big plus: completely peaceful, being away from the city and a small Hotel means that you can have a peaceful night under the gourgeous Atacama sky.”
“The location of the Ckamur Atacama Ethno Lodge on the outskirts of town away from light pollution afforded wonderful viewing of the night sky. Julio is a very friendly and helpful host. We especially enjoyed our hut, which is built of volcanic rocks with a thatched roof (and has an up-to-date bathroom and an enormous, comfortable bed) and is based on a centuries-old design of the homes of the native people of Atacama.”
