“Beautiful surroundings. Easy access to Edinburgh. Very friendly staff.”
“The staff were friendly and the Castle beautiful. The four poster bed was the biggest and most comfortable I have ever slept in. The Dungeon restaurant was a really enjoyable experience. Nice spa too.”
“Very quiet surrounding, and comfortable. Was'nt cheap, but you have to treat yourself sometimes!”
“Disappointed as a hotel guest not to get a table in Dungeon restaurant. Service in Orangerie was late - waited 20 mins for service, cutlery wrong way around. No light no candle...sitting in a draft. Water in room for bath was tepid. Apart from paying a fortune for mediocre service, a comfortable stay.”
“Good customer service, friendly staff, beautiful historic setting, use of the spa facilities”
“I did like the room. It was large, spacious, and it was in keeping with the feel of the castle. The bed was comfortable, and the room was nicely made up each day, with nice, firm pillows. In the bath, there was body gel, shampoo, and condition, which all smelled quite nice. The sitting room area was comfortable, in front of a window with a view of the meadow.”
“Very friendly, professional staff. Clean room with comfortable bed and wonderful grounds for a hike! Close to the city in a quiet country setting. One of the nicest castle hotels I have stayed in . Will stay here again while visiting Edinburgh.”
“The croissants were extra flaky and beds extra comfortable! Wonderful Christmas atmosphere and brilliant service!”
“Stunning grounds, the old castle is a treat. They have capitalised on the whole 'ye oldest inhabited Scottish castle' thing with the decor, themed rooms etc. Some reviewers moan about cleanliness but I saw no issues. Our themed room had putlog holes which contained some spider webbing... but these are putlog holes in a very old castle wall. Hardly an indicator on the rest of the furnishings. Additionally, their onsite restaurant serves sublime examples of amazing cuisine.”
“Fantastic breakfast with huge rooms set in a beautiful part of the Scottish countryside. The staff were very friendly and the falconry was great to see. A cosy fire place in the library was a great place to finish the day with a cocktail.”
