“We were holed up in the East Fjords for three nights due to a ferocious storm which hit most of Iceland. We had booked for one night only but the staff were willing to let us keep our room until the storm gave us a quick window to drive to our next destination. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff provided friendly and helpful advice on when we might be able to leave, and frequent updates on weather and road conditions. The French Museum in the hotel was closed for the season however they contacted someone to get the digital displays going so we could enjoy this great bit of history. A delicious lunch was served on both days even though the restaurant is normally only open at breakfast and dinner, the 220km per hour winds made it almost impossible to access the local cafe. Breakfast and dinner were superb, and the coffee one of the best. The staff could not have been faulted in any way and I will happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Iceland.”
“Great room with a high standard of finish and facilities, overlooking the fjord and jetty. An interesting and attractive building which had been restored to create a really excellent hotel. Everyone we spoke to were incredibly helpful and during our stay we needed to make a number of booking and date changes due to weather issues and they could not have been more accommodating. We wish we could have stayed longer! During our stay we had a number of snow falls and were treated to excellent views of the northern lights too. The restaurant was quiet as it was the low season, but the service and food was very good. Special thanks to the receptionists who made sure we managed to hit the road before we got stuck due the storms and the wonderful restaurant manager (?) who did everything to make our stay memorable.”
“The ocean sounds into the room was so nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was awesome.”
“The room was pleasant and the location looked beautiful - looking out on the fjord from the dock behind the hotel. Unfortunately it was quite foggy when we were there. The breakfast buffet was very nice, lots of options - hot food, fresh waffles and tasty pastries.”
“The receptionist, Leva (I think), was very friendly and waited for us for late check-in :)”
“Everything was lovely. Views, room, restaurant etc.”
“We arrived late in driving rain. Recpetionist was so friendly. Beautiful place, modern. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. View of estuary/water is beautiful and wooden walkway allows access to the pier and waterside restaurant. We dined in the site Italian and it was fantastic. Breakfast was first class - fresh breads, cheeses, fruit and staff that smiled! Take time to walk around the hotel museum. The history of this place is fascinating”
“Great re-development of old french hospital. Fantastic location overlooking fjord. Saw seals swimming outside the window at breakfast time, amazing! French influenced dinner menu”
“Fosshotels are the safest option when you travel anywhere in Iceland. This was the very first Fosshotel property we stayed in and it was amazing. The pier view was stunning and aperfect place to see the northern lights on a night with clear skies. The breakfast was excellent!”
“Great breakfast. Wonderful view. Really windy in Oct.”
