“Dinner and breakfast were delicious, service was great and prices were reasonable.”
“Quaint. Great food. Comfortable room. Shower had good pressure and a shower curtain so water didn’t get all over the floor which is rare in the other places we’ve stayed.”
“Our building was the old bank and therefore had a lot of character. The rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and featured other items (like avocados) not normally seen in hotel breakfasts. The staff were nice and home-y.”
“We had a great time and thought the staff were great.”
“Adorable hotel spread over several old buildings in the town. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great hotel restaurant with a very romantic feel. Good location with wonderful views of the quaint town and the fjord.”
“Our room was in an old, quaint building, right across from a lovely path around a pond. I could see waterfalls from the bedroom window.”
“The hotel was in a historic Scandinavian "kit" house, with antique furniture. The bed was super comfortable, the room was simple and beautiful and the location was in the center of this very charming town.”
“We have travelled over Iceland 6 times since 2008. It was always difficult for us to choose between two lodgings when we (my wife and I) planed itinerary in East Iceland. Yes, there was a toss up between Gistihúsið Egilsstadir by the lake or Hotel Aldan in Seydisfjördur. We loved both because of their excellent quality of meals. In the summer of 2010 and 2014 we stayed and dined at Aldan. We were satisfied very much every time. We enjoyed well-prepared dishes using carefully selected ingredients. The old but cosy double room with a bath tub in the building which used to be the bank is our favourite.”
“Of all the places we stayed in Iceland, Hotel Aldan was the most inviting, warm, and cozy. The decor was much more welcoming than the more typical sparse Scandinavian style, with antiques, homey comforters, and an appealing reception area. One of our favorite stops!”
“All room are in detached houses around the village. Ours was in an old bank building and I appreciated the design being kept as it was without any attempt to make it look modern. The place was very clean and beds were comfortable. The bathroom could do with a refit but it was perfectly functional - nothing to complain about. Reception staff is great and the restaurant serves delicious dinners and breakfast.”
