“The staff at Hotel Cecil was beyond incredible. They arranged for someone to pick us up at the airport at 1am and bring us to the hotel. When we checked in at 2am, they took our breakfast order for the next morning (6 hrs later!). Breakfast was included in the booking cost and they allowed you to pick pretty much as many menu items as you wanted. Food was all delicious (highly recommend the Puri Bhaji and Masala Omelet). Room was incredibly clean, bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was spotless. The staff was also very knowledgeable about the area and provided recommendations during our stay. The location is prime for people who are interested in walking and immersing themselves in a beautiful but chaotic culture. The staff also arranged a cab for us at our departure to the Howrah Junction Station (20 min ride in heavy traffic). If you are having any reservations about where to stay in Kolkata, definitely select Hotel Cecil. You will not be disappointed!”
“A corridor with furnish standard room. Staffs are good too.”
“Comfortable bed, small but cosy room, great staff. We had the most delicious breakfasts here!! The location is more local rather than in the new market which was very welcome. You can take an uber anywhere very easily to see tourist spots or some are walking distance. The restaurant around the corner was good but I would have liked to try the dinners at the hotel since the breakfast was so good.”
“This was the first place my husband and I stayed in India. I was impressed by the professionalism and care provided by the staff. When they found out it was our wedding anniversary, they gifted us a delicious dessert. They were very attentive and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. The rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the people walk beneath. The shower is also excellent with warm water. The location is close to the metro, which allows you to explore the city easily. You can also easily hail a cab. The food from the restaurant is delicious, but more expensive than we paid elsewhere.”
“I was pleasantly surprised with Hotel Cecil, moving here after a disappointing night elsewhere. It's a nice little hotel, friendly staff and the rooms are cute and cozy. No complaints at all with the rooms, the decor, cleanliness and nice little touches are beyond what you might expect based on the outside of the building. I loved the balcony and watching the craziness below. An excellent breakfast is served to your room at a time you pick, with lots of choices. Wifi worked perfectly, too. As for location, I think it's perfect if you really want to experience the grittier side of Kolkata. It's not the prettiest part of town but a real working class part of the city, and wandering the nearby streets is noisy, chaotic and fascinating. In short...highly recommend!”
“Location was central BUT ACCESS WAS BAD TAXI UNABLE TO GET TO ENTRANCE AS IT WAS ON SIDE LANE.SURROUNDINGS VERY DIRTY AND HORRIBLE.”
“The location in College St. is pretty awesome with lots of cool places, some of them of historical heritage. Book shops, lively setting. Metro is near. The room is small but clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful, breakfast was good. Relaxing experience against the noise and crowd outside.”
“Hotel Cecil was a great place to stay during our 4 days trip in Kolkata. We were at ease, with a clean room, a good bathroom with hot water, and really kind and lovely staff. The meal proposals at the hotel (breakfast / lunch / dinner) were really convenient and tasty ! There is also a good restaurant under the hotel.”
“The staff were fantastic and helped with any request I had. The location is not too far from an underground station and easy to get to from the airport. Good size room.”
“Very nice room and excellent staff. Tram line ran pass hotel. Nice facilities.”
