“This place is on the edge of the walls of the fortified city. It Overlooks the high plains. Stunning and to us unexpected. Find out about the history.”
“We liked the friendly front of house staff, we loved the village and its fabulous history. The terrace for early drinks etc was very attractive. The grilled sole at dinner was top class ( but see what was not so good) , parking was good and the cleanliness top class. This was a former Parador. Maybe explains why no signs.”
“Property is very well located inside the walls, family room was quite big with nice balcony, breakfast was nice with home-made marmalade and cakes, staff was really friendly to our family, including our 3 year old.”
“The landscape surrounding the hotel; the simpathy of the staff and the food.”
“This hotel appears to be the only one in Almeida. Architecturally, it is a sore thumb in what is otherwise a fascinating, historic town. It was convenient, reasonably priced, and the few staff available were pleasant and helpful. Almeida itself is a fascinating town, well worth a day's on foot exploration. Particularly interesting for history buffs!”
“The setting of the hotel within the fortification is very unique and the views are wonderful. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. Service was top notch.”
“Large comfortable room with balcony. Lovely staff and common areas. Almeida is a fascinating place and should be better known. Restaurant is good also.”
“Quiet hotel but lovely lovely staff and stunning setting.”
“Great location, in front of the city fortress. A Great city to visit. The region has a great history from before Portugal Kingdom.”
“Reception Fatima and lady owner very welcoming and helpful. Hotel opened newly built in 1987 and was much busier until recent years. Twin bedded room large and adequate with balcony overlooking village and battlements. Good wifi. Breakfast and dinner adequate. Easy free parking at hotel. Unique Location inside a large still standing 12 pointed star French style fort built 1650. I found Almeida by accident on G Earth while searching a route from Portugal to Salamanca. Excellent military history museum tells story of many wars over 400 years.”
