“Wonderful ! We stayed 5 nights in the family room (the hotel has 4 rooms) . Our room was spacious and very clean. The view is amazing on the sea. The room is well equiped with minibar, little fridge, air conditionning and ventilator - and flowers on bed at the arrival. The bathroom has hot water, spacious with furnitures. Private beach for snorkelling in the rocks but very safe for children. There is another beach on the other side of the hill...very beautiful. A special thanks to Manju. Always do his best. He is prevenant, helpful, friendly and we will never forget the yoga time with him in front of the sea! Thanks Chamara too for perfect cook with fresh products. Very good place, peaceful and quiet...we recommend !”

“The staff at Hotel Mahena is amazing. We got help with everything we asked for and even more. The food was good, the view was outstanding, the calm atmosphere was nice. Our children were many times taken care of, so that me and my husband could eat. We really recommend this hotel and we hope that Talalla will not be as exploited as many of the other coastal villages in Sri Lanka. Not easy to find places like this!”

“First and foremost, the staff is absolutely amazing. Manju and Chambrere really went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible: they arranged a yoga class, a scooter, transportation, catching fresh mussels and oysters on the beach that they served for lunch. Which brings me to the cooking. The food in the restaurant might be the best we had in Sri Lanka so far. Fresh hish every night, great curries, and a wonderful breakfast. Our room (#9) on the first floor looked out over the ocean. In the morning we could open the doors and the curtains and wacth the sun rise over the ocean. There is a private rocky beach down at the ocean with a couple of lounge chairs and a private table on a romantic rock. The swimming there is not much, but Talalla beach is a short walk away.”

“It would be impossible to have a sweeter, more attentive staff. Manu went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, happy, that we had everything we needed. He even took my son into Matara on his scooter to buy him a new bathing suit. He's also an EXCELLENT cook! The food was just fantastic. We loved our stay and Talalla Beach is a quiet, unspoiled GEM.”

“Great spot to stay with the family with a large comfortable room. The kids loved hunting for hermit crabs on the private beach. All the food is cooked fresh to order so it may take a while but it's worth the wait.”

“The family that run this hotel are absolutely beautiful. They are so generous and made us feel like part of the family. In terms of hospitality this was my favourite hotel in Sri Lanka. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, up a hill with a stunning view of the ocean. The food was excellent, particularly the chicken curry. I highly recommend this hotel.”
