“Position was good, balcony excellent, plenty of hot water. ”
“Terminus Saint Charles is just at the bottom of the steps opposite Marseille's smart and practical SNCF and Gare Routiere. So handy for those trips out or airport connections. The hotel is 15 minutes walk from the old port, hub of much if on a short break. Public transport abounds 5 minutes down the hill. The Arab quarter of La Bunse is adjacent to the property and is an easy cut through to shopping mall and post office. Lots of good cheap eats in those streets. Marseille is Cosmopolitan and alive. The hippy quarter up at Cours Julien is 10 mins down the hill and up on the left. Again, relaxed coffees and ambience. Hotel Saint Charles is 3 star basic but comfortable, clean, friendly and safe. It's on a busy corner, barely noticed. Shutters kept everything out. Loved it and Marseille. Will return.”
“Location so easy at bottom of train steps. Was busy area but decent glazing so not noisy. Easy location for port and train station, shops etc.”
“Smelly environment. You need to take the stairs to get to the elevator. Loud street noise, unless you sleep with a closed window. No air condition.”
