The old water pumps, stained glass windows, and marble sinks are still being used. Fatih is a great choice for travellers interested in monuments, architecture and history.The hotel is a conversion of 4 Greek houses built in the early 1900s with most of the original features preserved.The rooms are decorated with classical old style furniture. The front rooms look over Golden Horn and the backstreet rooms have bay windows with a beautiful Phanar view. “On the plus side, Fener & Balat is a fascinating neighborhood - there are interesting shops, a cozy cat-friendly cafe just up the street, lots of old houses and shops, and an active street life. The Patriarchate of the Greek Orthodox Church is one block away, and it's also not too far a walk from attractions like the Spice Market (about 30 minutes). If it weren't for the cigarette smoke from the restaurant on the ground floor, I'd have had no complaints.”
