“This was a nice, small town hotel, in good location to split up our trip from Umeå to Kvikkjokk. Everything was fine at the hotel, including breakfast - automat o/n parking across the street. Fun dinner at railway hotel, across traffic circle and highway - American diner theme - burgers and shakes. Not local, but a change of theme. Early start next morning, side trip to the mountaintop fort (Rödberget) just outside of town - interesting emplacement built in earliest 20th century as defense against Russian threat from the East. Dramatic transitions along highway NW through Jokkmokk to Kvikkjokk. First reindeer sightings along the way.”
