“My purpose for visiting Montescaglioso was to see where my grandparents were born and to see if I could find any relatives. Our hosts Lucia and Francesca were wonderful. Lucia speaks English and gave us a tour of the town and spent an entire day with my wife and I going to town hall and looking up birth records getting an address to go see where my grandparent were born. She gave us good recommendations for restaurants and they provided breakfast which included freshly made mozzarella and ricotta that was still warm. Francesca and Lucia's sister were great hosts and I would recommend their hotel to anyone. ”

“Molto buona la colazione. Tutto lo staff è molto gentile e disponibile, hanno in reception un sacco di depliant e mappe sulla zona, molto utili. L'albergo è a due passi dal centro storico di Montescaglioso, molto carino da visitare a piedi.”

“In feite kan ik alleen maar positief zijn over het verblijf in Il Borgo Ritrovato die uitgebaat wordt door 2 jonge zussen, die samen met hun ouders het bedrijf runnen. Ze boden ons een uitstekende ontvangst en accommodatie, heerlijk ontbijt met zelfgemaakte dolces en zelfgekweekt fruit, lekkere verse kazen en hartig brood. De kamers zijn stijlvol ingericht en heel net en proper. De bedden slapen goed. Uit Montescaglioso vertrekt een lijnbus naar Matera. Voor 1,30€ per rit word je tot aan het station van Matera gebracht dat op wandelafstand ligt van de Sassi's. In Montescaglioso eet je het lekkerste paardenvlees ooit in de Macelleria Equina.”
