“The staff were absolutely superb! Truly wonderful people who did everything they could to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. The place is wonderfully quirky - an absolute must for nature lovers. Every time we sat outside we would spot at least a dozen different animals, from monkeys to iguanas. Our chalet's outdoor shower was also visited by the resident pet cat and a chipmunk. Relaxing in the outdoor hammocks was also a highlight.”
“It was a fantastic experience to stay in a tree house and I would recommend it to everyone. The location is unbelievably beautiful! In the evening we took a canoe trip on the lake which is a 4 minute walk from the hotel where you are able to see elephants and other wildlife, it was incredible. If you are looking at visiting the udawalawe national park, La Pentera offers you a driver and car to go to the park (which I also would recommend). The food was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. If you want a different 'hotel' experience do this!”
“I can not rate the level of service high enough at this place the staff are so lovely the food was delicious and the tree houses very cool. We rode scooters here and before we left I looked over and they were washing our bikes! They have cold beer on offer and a great menu to order from. I recommend this place highly I spend a lot of time in SL and this is the best service I have experienced”
“Enjoyed staying in the tree house & the food here was exceptional - thank you again to the chef who spoke to us before and after every meal. The staff were friendly & we would highly recommend the safari (morning and afternoon drives), canoeing and river trip. The outside bathroom and spacious bedroom was nice & we enjoyed the verandah attached to the room. Was nice to relax in the hammock. This is a relatively new resort & is being upgraded / built (without disruption and disturbance to the guests)”
“Service was excellent! They arranged all the activities we did (even an tuk-tuk we could drive ourselves). The best thing we did was the canoe-ride combined with the romantic fish and shimp bbq next to the lake. Thanks guys for this amazing experience!”
“friendly and helpful staff, nice food, originality of the place, close to nature”
“Hotel is wonderfully close to nature. The tree house we had has open walls so breeze blows the room and all the cicada bird and wildlife noises are part of the experience. The clay house is comfortable with aircon and an open air but private shower bathroom. Nice shady veranda. Dinner and breakfast were in a shady summer house. Very kind and helpful staff. Lovely boat trip on the lake (5 minutes walk away) to see birds, traditional life, water buffalo with local fishermen. Went to Udawallele national park on two early morning game drives and saw wonderful variety of birds and animals.”
“The staff members and owner are extremely friendly and helpful. The tours they offer to Udawalawe and Yala are superior to those offered elsewhere and their drivers are phenomenal. The place is pretty and the food is good. Great for couples.”
“Very nice resort in the middle of nature, easy to access, and very convenient to arrange a safari in Udawalawe National Park . Quiet place. The welcome and attention given by Francis were amazing. Very dedicated and helpful to make sure that your all stay goes at its best. Thanks again Francis. I had an amazing time staying at La Pentera.”
“This is a beautiful up and coming resort, that hosts amazing scenery. Francis and the other staff are lovely and really cater for your every desire and ensure your comfort. The trip ran smoothly, due to Francis organising all our activities and transport. He even took us on complementary tours of the local area (watefall, temple and watching elephants) and provided fresh lime juice (very refreshing)!!”
