“I would recommend visiting Matera and staying at Locanda Di San Martino Hotel & Thermae Romanae, what a great find, truly unique town and hotel, everything was second to none, one of the best hotels I have stayed in but certainly the most unique. Breakfast was excellent and unique with live music, a lady playing wonderful music on a piano, a truly memorable experience. We were informed that the town will be the culteral capital of Europe in 2019 by an excellent guide we had whilst visiting the underground water reservoir in the town square, I believe the lady also carried out tours of the town and I wish we had had time to do it as she was very informative.”

“We were inside the Sassi, with fabulous views of Matera from our patio. We loved our cave room! The room was large, the bed was comfortable, with all the luxuries and amenities, and a lovely shower. We really enjoyed walking around the Sassi early in the morning when it was quiet. Breakfast was wonderful with cappuccino, orange juice, fruit, yogurt and fresh croissants. The cave pool in the spa was wonderful!”
“This is an excellent hotel. Breakfast was great and the location amazing. Sleeping in a cave is a surreal experience. Matera is a place where you can happily visit the sights or simply let the streets and passageways lead you around ther town. Be warned though, there are a lot of steps.”

“The setting of this hotel is outstanding. If you stay here, you need to stay in one of the cave rooms. the staff were very helpful and breakfast was very good. We were given good advice about places to visit and local restaurants.”
“This hotel is right in the centre of the old town. It has stylish decoration and spacious room. The pool was impressive but due to rush hour I went there, it was a bit crowd. The reception staff is extremely helpful, help me to search bus schedule and shop for buying bus ticket.”

“Incredible place. We had room 7 which was huge. Set back into the hill it was a very large cave. Complete with jacuuzzi bath. Lift was a great help in getting to the top of town. Location is excellent as right in amongst the sassi with a number of good restaurants close by. The Thermae Romana experience was out of this world.”
