“The Mercure is a welcoming hotel with good facilities. It is situated close to train lines and my room had a view of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, so it was very central. As such there can be some drama from the street noise, even 7 floors up, and with the double-glazed windows closed, but this was not a problem for me and I slept well. The bathroom was excellent - a huge deep bath and plenty of hot water were very welcome after my days tramping around Paris. There was a fridge so it would have been possible to keep milk or wine in there (I didn't but maybe should have - see below)”
