“We love it at the Rutland Arms and will definitely be back. We were able to arrange an early check in and there is free cancellation when booking through booking.com. Very warm rooms. Continental breakfast included in price. Coffee & food accessible without leaving the building. Great roomservice. Outside tables for hotel patrons off communal tv lounge - if weather permitting. Luxurious Spa bath in Captain Laye Suite. Elegant Decor and comfortable bed. Wished we'd had a second night.”
“The staff at Rutland Arms could not have been more hospitable and accommodating. We arrived MUCH later than our expected arrival time, and we were starving to boot. The kitchen had closed but the staff was kind enough to make an exception and prepare us a sandwich and some nachos -- after being on the road for about 10 hours that day, a hot meal was like a religious experience. Special thanks to Emma for making it all happen. Breakfast the next morning was probably the best we had during our one week stay - we had the continental and were very satisfied (and also new converts to muesli). Accommodations were clean, cozy, and we would stay again in a heartbeat.”
“I had a continental breakfast the first morning and eggs and tomatoes the second morning. Both breadfasts were lovely - including the rye bread. The staff asked me how I wanted my eggs and then brought them to me perfectly done as I had requested.”
“The staff were kind, friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and comfortable and the men in our family appreciated the full breakfast. The convenience of a full restaurant and bar downstairs really appealed to us. This is a charming old pub, very hospitable and convenient. We found the accommodation to be quiet and spotlessly clean and the large rooms were well appointed with modern bathrooms. Don't under-rate the Rutland for a good stay.”

“Staff were friendly, rooms were very clean and comfortable with good quality furnishings in keeping with the age of the property. There was also a pleasant, quiet lounge area for guests to use. Even when the pub was busy it was quiet upstairs in the rooms. Good location for accessing Whanganui town center, riverside amenities and there are plenty of local restaurants within easy walking distance.”
