“The entire experience was fantastic! The bus to Hillswick lets you off at the hotel'S front steps! The view was magnificent. My room was recently redone, and it was everything I could have asked for. The owners, PAUL and ANDREA, WERE SO FRIENDLY AN HELPFUL. Beth cooked an excellent breakfast, and Carol was great. I want to come back and stay! The countryside around Hillswick is amazing.”

“What can I say. Super hotel in beautiful location with friendly and helpful staff who want to make sure you enjoy your stay. The rooms are lovely with very comfy beds and stunning en suite showerroom. Special thanks to Andrea for making sure everything was just right! Breakfasts in the dining room were delicious too...and enough to feed a horse!”

“The location and the main building - facing St Magnus bay, old wooden building from Norway via Glasgow Exhibition. The owner, Andrea, who was very warm and welcoming and gave us advice on where to go for best views. Welcome tray of tea and cake. Fresh flowers in all our rooms. My room was large, recently refurbished, well furnished and decorated, had a luxurious bathroom, and sea view. Interesting "Viking" objects in public area. Good breakfast served by very pleasant young lady. There was a ramp up to a side door. I don't know if there was a downstairs bedroom, I had said in advance that one of our group has breathing difficulties and struggled with stairs, her room was in the annex, up one short flight of stairs, which was manageable. Good wi-fi.”

“The owners were great. We liked the food; breakfast was big! Alcohol is served on Sunday! Our newly refurbished rooms and baths were quite comfortable.”

“Wonderful and welcoming hotel by the bay (where one might spot orcas - good luck, we didn't but apparently just missed them!). Room and bed were really comfortable!! Dinner as well as breakfast were very good, we've had a lovely time.”

“In a quiet and scenic location in the Hillswick area of Shetland. We had room #24 which was a good size and comfortably furnished (bed comfortable, seating and writing desk) with a fine view over the bay.Food freshly cooked and portions large, after the first evening meal we realised one course was sufficient! Staff friendly and helpful.”

“The setting was wonderful. An older hotel under going renovation, but noise not a problem. The hotel overlooks a magnificent loch. Our room ( 2nd floor ) was spacious, very clean ---- and shortly after our arrival, a freshly made cafetiere for two --- with cookies --- was delivered to our room---- what a treat!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location good for easy drives to nearby points of interest. New bathrooms --- very nice! Breakfast pleasant. The hotel bar was frequented by friendly locals --- all in all, a delight!”
