“Big bed... if you had children lots of space to accommodate them too”
“Location was the only plus side, beautiful area awful hotel.”
“Clean, good-sized, comfortable room. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Meals were very good, big portions and beer was good. It wasn't too busy when I visited (late October). Being able to charge bar meals and beer to room was good. Convenient parking in an area known for parking problems. Good location for hiking in SW Yorkshire Dales.”
“The room was clean and the shower was hot and powerful. The staff were kind and pleasant, asking what I was off to do in the morning. You order your breakfast the night before (so you can make sure evil mushrooms are avoided for instance), and the quality was great - the chef also popped his head around to make sure you had enough tea and toast. Perfect place if you're doing the Three Peaks as it is on the route itself. Note: if you arrive by train after dark, you'll need the torch on your phone or similar so you can find your way. It is a short walk to the pub from the station, but remember this is the countryside, so dark means properly pitch black until you're close to the pub (Black Sheep on tap, of course).”
“I was walking the Pennine Way and the pub was right next to it. Food was excellent and staff very friendly.”
“Thw location was excelent, staff were really friendly and polite.”
“My husband and myself had a lovely stay at the Crown. After walking 17 miles we were greeted with a warm welcome. The evening meal was really nice and the portions very large. The landlord and landlady were really friendly as were all the staff. Had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed, and the breakfast the next day was great. Lovely country pub in a great setting and friendly staff. What more could you ask for? we will be back.”
“Basic food, cooked well, staff pleasant and efficient.”
