“Wonderful stay, made to feel very welcome. Room was fab! Breakfast and evening meal was excellent!!!”
“If you love fine old historical establishments with atmosphere to burn, then don't miss out on the Oxenham Arms. If possible, take part in one of the owner's tours and learn more about the inn's monastic history, the standing stones that make up part of its foundations and literally hold up some of the chambers, and it's piratical sea captain. If you have mobility issues please discuss with the owner ahead of time to insure that you get the most accessible room. Otherwise don't hesitate to go for the oldest offerings--the Bovey or the Widecombe. The amenities are thoroughly modern despite the Oxenham's great age, and their restaurant menu and wine list is very, very good. Our party of four tried everything and pronounced it all excellent. Parking can be a little tricky as the Ox is on the main drag with very little space in front of the inn, but there's always parking along the street and South Zeal is not a main thoroughfare.”

“Everything. The staff were terrific and the pub was beyond words. Played some music in the pub with an off-duty bartender which was fun for me. They practically had to drag us out of the pub for dinner!”
“Merlin the cat. Joined us at dinner, made us feel at home. Wonderful historic building. Great Sunday roast dinner with excellent service. Friendly staff.”
“The history of the building, the food was fantastic (best nut roast ever), sympathetically furnished, good beer. Not too far from the main road, but still feel like you're in the country. A very warm, friendly welcome and two lovely cats.”
