Originally plantation worker housing built in 1909, the property converted to an inn in the 1930s. Located in downtown Hilo, this hotel features free parking and free Wi-Fi in public areas. Rooms include cable TV.A microwave and small fridge are provided in all rooms at the Wild Ginger Inn Hotel and Hostel. Some rooms boast either garden or sea views.A continental breakfast of coffee, tea, oatmeal, fresh baked goods, a variety of fruit, as well as other breakfast favorites is served daily from 0730 to 0930hrs.Coconut Island is 2 miles away. Rainbow Falls and Kaumana Caves are less than 10 minutes" drive from the hotel. Hawai'i Volcano National Park is 45 minutes' drive away. The Wild Ginger Inn Hotel & Hostel has an old fashion country atmosphere that reflects its era. Originally, the building was a 1920's sugar cane plantation workers house. In the 1950's it was converted into an Inn with 27 private bedrooms with baths. In keeping with the original look and feel, you'll experience the Hawaiian laid back, simple living style with a relaxing ocean view. Although we have not completely updated to join the 21st century, some modern day comforts have been provided in a few upgraded rooms such as a cable TV, mini refrigerator, and microwave.With a stay at Wild Ginger Inn Hotel in Hilo, you'll be near the airport and within the region of Kaumana Caves County Park and Akaka Falls. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and laundry facilities. A shuttle from the hotel to the airport is provided for a surcharge at scheduled times, and free self parking is available onsite.
