Manchester is billed as England's Second City (after London). Still, a good case can be made for its being the world's first truly industrial city. "Mancunians" are proud of landmarks like Free Trade Hall (capitalists indeed!), and their local architecture is a study in contrast between old and new. Manchester boasts vibrant nightlife and sporting scenes. Tourist attractions include the Barton Arcade (restored to Victorian splendor), outdoor and street entertainment along the Boardwalk.
